The November quiz was played with the usual combination of good humour and competiveness. At the end of the evening two teams the Cokeralls and The Runners Up both finished on 148 points which meant for the first time ever Darren had to ask a tye-breaker question. The question was “How many rooms are there in Buckingham Palace”. The Cokeralls guessed the nearset number and won. The Runners up were true to there name as they came second. The evening was a great success with overall takings of £300. Thanks to Mike and Linda for running the bar and Darren for hosting another fun quiz. For those of you who are wondering how many rooms are in Buckingham Palace the answer is 775.

The Sparks Trophy – A Wonderful Afternoon Of Bowling
The sun was shining as our club members came together to compete for the Sparks Trophy. This is an annual event during which teams of three play each other in a round robin with each match consisting of four ends. Two points were awarded for a win and one point for a draw. At the end of the afternoon there were several teams with seven points, the team with the highest shot difference would win. When the calculations were complete it transpired that two teams had the same shot difference which meant that the competition would be decided on which team had won the most ends. To everybody’s surprise both teams had also won the same amount of ends. The decision was made that there would be a one end play-off to determine the winning team. With everybody gathered to watch the atmosphere was electric, there were whoops, cheers oohs and aahs with every bowl that was delivered. When it was the skip’s turn to step on to the mat Tony’s team were holding two shots, however, Linda managed to sneak in and win the shot along with the match. After a nail biting finish we all adjourned to the clubhouse to eat the variety of food that was supplied by the participants. The trophy was presented to Linda, James and Dave by Elaine who was representing the Sparks family. Our thanks to Marilyn and Pat who did a superb job in organising the competition.

Also thanks to Penny and Linda for organising the fish and chips, with Linda and Mike serving drinks at the bar everybody had a great evening of chat and banter.
