A Very Enjoyable Quiz Night
Eight teams gathered for an evening of quizzing with a variety of questions to test their knowledge with rounds including a Music Crossword, Famous Women and Numbers. It was not an evening for serious quizzers as there was a lot of joking and friendly banter between the teams. The night ended in a tense finale with the 3 Amigoes +1 team winning by two points. Once again our thanks go to Darren and Marianne for compiling and running another successful quiz evening.
The 2023 Annual Presentation Dinner
Club members enjoyed excellent food and good company at “The Annual Presentation Dinner” that was held at Ilminster Bowling Club. After the meal cups and trophies were presented to the competition winners by our club chairman Clive Champion. Our thanks goes to the Ilminster catering staff for preparing and serving a superb meal, Andy Gready for overseeing the running of the competitions and especially to Lynne Gready and Linda Daly for organising the event. Captains’ End of Season Reports
Now that we have come to the end of a very successful bowling season Bryan has compiled a report covering the mixed and men’s leagues along with the Turnbull Cup, Lynne has reported on the women’s league. Our Friday Evenings Get Together
Now that the summer bowling season has ended club members have told us how much they enjoyed getting together and have requested that we continue to meet at the clubhouse on Friday evenings. Everybody is welcome on Friday evenings from 6pm onwards, this is a great opportunity for us to keep in touch whilst enjoying a relaxing evening with friends. You can come along for a drink and a chat or some of you may even wish to play cards or board games. We look forward to seeing you there.
President’s vs Captain’s Match – Closing Of The Green
After a very busy bowls season in which the Crewkerne men’s, ladies and mixed teams performed extremely well in their leagues the green was finally closed with the traditional President’s Team vs Captain’s Team match. A pleasant afternoon was spent with ten triples teams playing in a round-robin style competition. Congratulations to the Captain’s Team on winning the game, special congratulations go to Marilyn Harris, Paul Gersok and Mary Hill for winning all of their matches. The afternoon was rounded off with a marvelous buffet meal supplied by the club members. Thanks to all the members that took part and especially to Bryan Atherton for organising and running the event. As winter approaches we look forward to next year’s bowling season.

Finals Day Triumph
It was good to see so many club members gathering to watch Crewkerne Bowling Club’s Finals Day. They were not disappointed, the spectators were treated to a day of entertaining matches and excellent bowling. Congratulations to everybody who took part especially Lynne Gready and Derek Smith who both played and won three matches each. A brilliant day was complete when Derek Lush presented the cups and trophies to the winners. A big thank you to all of you that took part throughout the season and thanks especially to Andy Gready for organising and running the competitions. We look forward to next year’s Club Competitions and would like to encourage our new bowlers to have a go

The Sparks Trophy
The weather was fine and the bowling was good as club members came together to contest the Sparks Trophy. The afternoon comprised of a round-robin of triples matches, congratulations go to the winning team – Ken Simmons, Bob Wheeler and Steve Attfield who scored the most points. The trophy was presented by Elaine Shepherd the daughter of Charlie Sparks who was a former president of our club. After the match everybody enjoyed a buffet meal made up of a variety of dishes supplied by club members. Our thanks goes to Pat Ramsden and Marilyn Harris for their very efficient organisation and running of the competition.
Crewkerne Bowls Bake Off
Following the success of the last men’s coffee morning bake off three more brave souls made delicious cakes for club members to sample. They were Andy Gready, Bryan Atherton and Clive Crabb. Their efforts were greatly appreciated by all those that attended. As before the cakes were critiqued by our bake off judge Lynne, her comments can be found here.
